संजय द्वारा राजा धृतराष्ट्र से कहा गया यह महत्त्वपूर्ण श्लोक उस क्षण को अंकित करता है जब श्रीकृष्ण अपना विश्वरूप प्रकट करते हैं। अपनी दिव्य महिमा दिखाने का वचन देकर और अर्जुन को दिव्यचक्षु प्रदान करके, महायोगेश्वर कहे जाने वाले श्रीहरि अपना परम, सर्वव्यापी रूप अनावृत करते हैं। यह ग्यारहवें अध्याय के सर्वाधिक विस्मयकारी दर्शन की देहली है।

In the eleventh chapter, Vishvarupa Darshana Yoga, after Krishna promises to reveal His divine majesty and grants Arjuna the divine eye, Sanjaya tells Dhritarashtra of the pivotal moment: the great Lord of Yoga, Hari, showed Arjuna His supreme, majestic universal form — the revelation that defines the chapter.

Tradition holds that in this supreme form Krishna displayed the whole of creation contained within Himself, a vision of such majesty that it could be beheld only through the divine eye and by the grace of the great Lord of Yoga.
